When it comes to wedding flowers, few blooms are as iconic or beloved as the rose. Timeless and romantic in meaning, roses have been a staple in bridal bouquets for generations and for good reason. At Stag Ridge Mercantile, we see roses in nearly every bouquet that comes through our studio and we absolutely love preserving them.
Why Roses Are a Pressing Favorite
Roses are one of the most versatile and meaningful flowers in the world of weddings. They symbolize love, devotion & new beginnings. What a perfect sentiment for a wedding day. Different colors carry unique meanings too: red for true love, white for purity, pink for admiration and yellow for friendship and joy. With so many varieties including garden roses, spray roses, David Austin blooms and more each wedding bouquet tells its own unique floral story.
Our Signature Style: Big, Open & Natural
When it comes to pressing roses, there are several methods. Some artists choose to deconstruct the rose entirely by removing each petal and carefully gluing them back together in a flat arrangement. While that can be beautiful, our style leans toward keeping the rose as intact and natural as possible. We love to press roses either sideways or open-faced, depending on the structure of the flower and the overall design of the bouquet. Our goal is to showcase each bloom in its most striking and lifelike form. Pressing a rose this way allows it to retain the character and movement it had in your bouquet, offering a more organic and emotional result.
The Beauty of Variety
Each rose we press is a little different. Some are soft and romantic with ruffled petals, while others are bold and structured with deep, velvety hues. No two turn out exactly the same, and that’s part of what makes them so special to work with. Roses also press surprisingly well when handled with care, making them one of the most reliable focal flowers for preservation.
A Bouquet Staple We Always Love
We’re always thrilled to see roses in the wedding bouquets we receive. Whether they’re tucked between wildflowers or standing proudly as the star of the show, they bring a sense of elegance to every design. Their timeless beauty translates perfectly into our frames, preserving not just a flower, but a moment in time.
If you’re dreaming of having your wedding bouquet pressed, don’t worry if your bouquet is full of roses. We are experts at capturing their charm in a way that stays true to their natural form.
