Pressing Sunflowers: A Labor of Love and Sunshine

Featuring an 18” x 24” Walnut Float Frame

Sunflowers are known for their bold beauty and golden glow, but what many people don’t realize is just how tricky they are to preserve. Their thick centers and hearty petals don’t always cooperate the way daintier flowers do, but that’s part of what makes them so special & rewarding to work with.

At Stag Ridge Mercantile, pressing sunflowers is an intricate process that feels a bit like solving a floral puzzle. Each bloom must be taken apart petal by petal before pressing. The center, which is far too thick to flatten on its own, requires extra care and technique to dry properly without losing its vibrant structure. Once every element is carefully preserved, we reassemble the flower by hand, piece by piece, until it looks like it never left the field. This isn’t a quick or easy task. But the end result? Pure sunshine.

We love the warmth and personality that sunflowers bring to a pressed frame. They add instant joy, a burst of color & a touch of nostalgia for summer days. In this particular piece, our client’s sunflower bouquet was preserved in a stunning 18” x 24” Walnut Float Frame, where every detail shines.

If you’re thinking about preserving sunflowers from your wedding, a memorial or just a moment that mattered, know that they’ll be in expert hands. We’ve spent years refining our methods and we handle each flower with the same care we’d want for our own. Because sometimes, preserving sunshine is just what the heart needs.
